DICKINSON, N.D. – Minot State University women's basketball couldn't keep up with Dickinson State 3-point shooting falling 80-67 in exhibition women's basketball Wednesday at Scott Gymnasium.

The Blue Hawks (2-0 overall), who played the game as a counting game, hit 12 3-pointers in the game and eight in the first half as they built a 51-38 halftime lead. Dickinson State was 20 of 29 in the first half and 8 of 17 on 3-pointers to build the lead.

Minot State shot 51.6 percent in the first half, but struggled beyond the arc, hitting just two 3s in the first half, going 16 for 31 overall.

Both teams cooled off in the second half keeping an MSU comeback at bay.

Five different Blue Hawks finished in double figure scoring, paced by Janniqua Thomas' game-high 19 points. Megan Klein had a double-double with 14 rebounds to go with her 10 points.

Alex Haley (Jr., G, Libertyville, Ill.) and Kari Clements (RFr., G, Trevor, Wis.) scored 12 points apiece for the Beavers, while Sarah Lester (Sr., G, Frenchtown, Mont.) chipped in with 11 points. Savana Kingsbury (Sr., F, Omaha, Neb.) had 13 rebounds and scored six points for MSU.

Minot State makes its 2015 home debut with another exhibition contest, taking on the University of Regina Sunday at 5 p.m.
