MINOT, N.D. – After facing the No. 2 ranked St. Cloud State Huskies yesterday afternoon, the Minot State wrestling team had little time to catch its breath as they squared off against the No. 10 ranked Upper Iowa Peacocks Sunday afternoon. Upper Iowa took the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual by a final score of 44-6.

Similarly to yesterday, Minot State got down early as they dropped matches in the 125 weight class and 133 weight class.

Trailing 11-0, Tanner Crissler (Fr., 141, Belcourt, N.D.) came through for the Beavers putting them on the board and cutting the lead to 11-6 after he pinned Jordan Roths at the 6:19 mark of his 141 match.

The win was Crissler's 14th of the season and capped a 2-0 record for the freshman over the weekend.

Minot State's success was short lived as the Peacocks took the next six matches, four of which were won by fall. Both Taylor Barstad (Fr., 197, Velva, N.D.) and Mitchell Eull (So., HWT, Buffalo, Minn.) came within three or less points of taking their matches but were unable to do so.

"It was just not a good trip in any way, except for Tanner Crissler wrestling so well," Minot State head coach Robin Ersland said. "Tanner did a great job, can't say as much for everyone else."

With the loss, Minot State falls to 5-11 on the season and 2-3 in the Northern Sun.

The Beavers will be at home for the remainder of the regular season beginning with a dual against Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 6. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. inside the MSU Dome.

"Tomorrow's another day and we'll start over and hopefully do better at home next weekend," Ersland said.
