MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team returns to action this weekend, as the Beavers host St. Cloud State on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Minnesota Duluth on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Minot State Dome.
Minot State is 4-6 on the season and 1-5 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play after falling to Mary on Dec. 19.
Senior
Kristal Flowers has three double-doubles on the season and is scoring 11.4 points and grabbing 9.2 rebounds per game.
Senior
Holly Johnson leads the Beavers in scoring with 14.0 points per game while posting 6.3 rebounds per game.
Madison Wald is scoring 9.8 points per game, followed by
Kari Clements and
Mariah Payne with 6.8 points per game apiece.
Clements leads the team with 2.8 assists per game and seven blocks on the season while
Diondra Denton paces the Beaver defense with 12 steals.
Scouting the St. Cloud State Huskies
The St. Cloud State Huskies enter Saturday's matchup with a record of 6-3 (3-2 NSIC) this season. Andrea Thomas leads the Huskies in scoring with 12.9 points per game and third on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game. Tori Wortz is scoring 10.8 points per game while Amanda Christianson is adding 9.4 points per game.
The Huskies are scoring 65.4 points per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the floor and 66.5 percent from the free throw line. St. Cloud State is outscoring their opponents by 11.8 points per game and outrebounding their opponents by 8.3 rebounds per game.
Head coach Lori Fish is in her 10
th season leading the Huskies with a record of 138-118. Fish is 200-171 in her 14
th overall season of coaching.
Scouting the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs
Minnesota Duluth comes in to the weekend carrying a 7-2 (4-1) record on the season. The Bulldogs will take on Mary on Saturday before facing Minot State on Sunday afternoon. Sammy Kozlowski leads the balanced scoring attack with 13.2 points per game while Sarah Grow and Katie Stark are scoring 9.3 and 9.2 points per game, respectively.
The Bulldogs are scoring 69.7 points per game while limiting opponents to 56.4 points per game on 37.8 percent shooting. Minnesota Duluth is shooting 39.6 percent from the floor and 68.8 percent from the free throw line and outrebounding opponents by 5.6 rebounds per game.
Head coach Mandy Pearson is 28-35 while in her third season at Minnesota Duluth and posts a career record of 130-143 in her 11
th season overall.
