MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team opens the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Southwest Baptist Classic in Bolivar, Mo. The Beavers will face the host Bearcats on Friday (Nov. 9) at 7 p.m. and then meet Lincoln on Saturday (Nov. 10) at 2 p.m.
The Beavers posted exhibition victories over Valley City State and Dickinson State and also scrimmaged against Black Hills State.
Dorian Aluyi led six players in double figures with 18 points and Minot State shot 66.7 percent from the field as the Beavers defeated Valley City State 97-64.
Max Cody scored 17 points and
Kyle Beisch had 14 points in his Minot State debut.
Kody Dwyer finished with 12 points and
Drake Jeffries and
Trevor Rothstein finished with 11 points each.
In the Beavers 107-70 victory against Dickinson State, Beisch poured in 29 points to lead five players in double figures in scoring. Beisch finished the game 11-17 from the floor and added six assists and three rebounds. Dwyer added 17 points for the Beavers, while Cody scored 13 points to go along with 13 assists to register a double-double for the Beavers.
Southwest Baptist was 12-17 last season, while Lincoln finished the year with a 15-14 overall record.
