Beavers One of Most Improved Teams in Division II

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Minot State women's basketball team finished the 2017-18 season as the 10th most improved team in Division II according to the statistics released by the NCAA on Monday.

The Beavers recorded an improvement of 11 games during the 2017-18 season, which marked the first year for Beavers head coach Mark Graupe. Minot State went 14-13 last season after posting a 4-25 mark in the 2016-17 season.

"I think this will really help us in the recruiting department because it shows that we are a program on the rise," said Graupe. "Now the students that we bring in next fall can see that we are the 10th-most improved team in the nation.

"The girls on this year's team were able to enjoy some really significant moments. I'm happy that they got to experience going from a really tough season to a winning season this year."

The annual most improved rankings are determined by calculating the win difference and the loss difference from the two seasons and diving by two.

"I'm a numbers guys and I like to say that my numbers show proof that we are an improving program," Graupe added.

Stonehill had the largest improvement last year with a 13.5 game improvement, while Barry, Flagler and Montana State Billings all improved by 12.5 games.
