MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team will return to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this weekend with a pair of road games. The Beavers will face Southwest Minnesota State on Friday (Jan. 18) at 5:30 p.m. and then close the road trip out with Sioux Falls on Saturday (Jan. 19) at 4:00 p.m.
Minot State, which is 6-10 overall and 1-9 in conference play, will be coming off two losses to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth.
The Beavers lost a pair of road games to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth last weekend. Minot State was defeated by St. Cloud State 67-60 and then Minnesota Duluth edged the Beavers 79-51.
Madison Wald led the Beavers with 16 points in the loss to St. Cloud State, while
Haley Hildenbrand scored 13 points. In the loss to Minnesota Duluth,
Mariah Payne scored 13 points, and
Kari Clements added 11 points.
Wald is currently tied with Clements averaging 13.8 points per contest and leads the team averaging 4.3 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 36 three-pointers. Wald has reached double figures in scoring in 12 games, which included a 23-point game against Minnesota State.
Clements, who has reached double figures in scoring 12 times this season, is averaging 13.8 points per game, as well. She also tops the team with 36 steals and leads the team in minutes played averaging 32.6 minutes per game. Clements also is currently third on the team in field goal percentage shooting 48.8 percent from the floor and has scored 34 points against Minnesota State.
Payne leads Minot State with 61 assists and is third on the team averaging 11.4 points per game and has reached figures in scoring 10 times.
Hildenbrand ranks fourth on the team on the team averaging 6.7 points per game and third on the team averaging 3.9 rebounds per game and leads the squad shooting 56.8 percent from the floor.
Calli Delsman (5.4 ppg),
Whitney Molina (3.3 ppg),
Anna Counts (2.8 ppg) and
Gabby Wilkinson (2.9 ppg) have each played in all 16 games on the season.
Southwest Minnesota State is 5-9 overall and 4-6 in the NSIC, while Sioux Falls is 6-4 in the NSIC and a 11-5 overall record.
