MINOT, N.D. – The newest Minot State sports program continues to grow as women's wrestling head coach
Brittney Mitchem works hard to build the Beavers inaugural team.
Mitchem is pleased to introduce the newest addition to the newest Beaver program as Kayelin "KJ" Otterson has signed a National Letter-of-Intent and will transfer to Minot State as a sophomore in the classroom this spring. She will also be a sophomore on the mats starting in the fall of 2022 when the Beaver women's wrestling program begins its first season of competition.
"I'm really excited to announce Kayelin as a part of our team," Coach Mitchem said. "With her freestyle experience, she will set the tone for our upcoming program next fall. It's amazing to already have a female wrestler on campus this spring.
"KJ is the type of wrestler that you will see launch someone, she is very exciting to watch," Mitchem added.
A product of Sandpoint High School in Sandpoint, Idaho, Otterson began her collegiate career this fall competing at Corban University in Salem, Ore., where she most recently finished fourth in the 130-pound weight class for the Warriors at the Spokane Open held the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Prior to starting her collegiate career with the NAIA program at Corban, Otterson won four Idaho state championships in Greco/freestyle and was a five-time national team member.
