Beaver Ladies Back at Home for Series with Northern State on Friday

MINOT, N.D. –  The Minot State women's basketball team returns home for the first time in three weeks for a two-game weekend against another North Division foe. The Beavers will host Northern State on Friday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
 
Both Minot State and Northern State are fighting for postseason position. The Beavers (3-7, 3-5) could benefit from a weekend sweep. Northern State (3-7, 2-6) will be looking to play spoiler.

COVID-19 Game Day Protocols
 
Facial coverings are REQUIRED in the MSU Dome. Fans are reminded to follow CDC guidelines in the MSU Dome including; proper hand-washing, social distancing, and health information.

Fans and media are not permitted on the playing surface including the scorer's table. Attendance is capped at 1,000 fans and admission is free inside the MSU Dome. In-person interviews are prohibited at the MSU Dome but media may request a Zoom link to the post-game press conference that is performed immediately following the contest. Interview requests must be made by email

The NSIC will continue to monitor the landscape and conditions surrounding the pandemic, locally, regionally, nationally, and make any decisions or announcements, as necessary.

GAME NOTES

Series History
  • Northern State holds an all-time lead in the series with a 19-3 margin.
  • The Beavers are 1-9 in the last 10 games and have lost nine in a row to Northern State.
  • Minot State's last win over the Wolves came in the 2015-16 season by a 69-61 score.
  • Two of the Beavers' three wins over Northern State have been played in the MSU Dome.
  • The most recent match-up between the two squads ended with a 73-71 win for the Wolves.
 
Beavers by the Numbers
  • Amber Stevahn has been the premier offensive player for the Beavers. She is averaging 15.8 PPG, which ranks seventh in the NSIC.
  • Stevahn also leads the team on the glass with an average of 6.5 rebounds per game.
  • Anna Counts and Calli Delsman also put up big numbers on the boards with 6.3 RPG and 5.6 RPG, respectively.
  • Kate Head and Bethany Theodore have been a dynamic duo from down under. The Australian guards have been the most generous players for the Beavers. Head averages 3.8 assists per game and Theodore averages 2.9.
  • Head's assist numbers rank sixth in the league.
  • Counts have been a key defensive player with 10 total blocks and an average of 1.0 rejections per game.
  • Theodore has contributed on defense too with 2.1 steals per game.
 
Scouting Report
  • The Wolves have two players averaging double-figures. Lexi Wadsworth leads the way at 15.2 PPG and Rianna Fillipi follows her with 10.6 PPG.
  • Wadsworth's scoring numbers rank eighth in the NSIC.
  • Wadsworth does a lot of her scoring from behind the three-point arc. She is currently shooting 43% from three-point land.
  • Both Wadsworth and Fillipi also clean up on the glass with averages of 8.0 RPG and 4.9 RPG, respectively. Joie Spier also rebounds well for Northern State with 4.1 collections per game. Wadsworth's rebounding figures are good enough for third overall in the conference.
  • Fillipi leads the fluidity of the Northern State offense with 2.6 assists per game. She also locks down on the perimeter of the defense with 2.5 steals per contest.
