TOPEKA, KS --
Lewis Cotterill and
Jacob Jensen set program records in the 800 and 5K to lead Minot State track and field at the Ichabod Invitational at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday.
Cotterill ran a time of 1:57.07 in the 800 to clock the fastest time in Minot State track and field DII history and Jensen recorded the fastest time in the DII era for the Beavers in the 5K (15:11.44).
The action opened with the men's high jump and
Leif Nelson finished ninth with a leap of 1.89m. To the field,
Tori Nygard finished 18th in the women's weight throw with a toss that was just shy of a personal record 14.72m.
Back onto the track, we go as
Nathan Trujillo-Aragon finished 20th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.76. Trujillo-Aragon missed a personal record by a mere .02 seconds.
In the women's mile,
Linda Perez finished 14th with a time of 5:13.80 and
Abby McGee placed 15th with a season-personal record of 5:14.21.
In the men's mile,
Trestin Mancillas-Finnerty finished 18th with a time of 4:18.24.
Back to the field and the weight throw but this time on the men's side.
Logan Krueger finished 13th with a toss of 16.73, Samuel Kriens threw a personal record and the No. 8 distance in MSU DII era (14.39m), and
Corbin Harris finished 32nd with a toss of 13.34.
On the track in the men's 400,
Chase Tandy finished 17th with a time of 50.21. This marked an indoor personal record for Tandy and No. 3 in the DII era for the Beavers.
Whitney Hanson finished 4th in the women's 800m with a time of 2:18.53 which is a season personal record. McGee placed 20th with a time of 2:28.37 marking a season personal record, and
Emily Hansen finished 21st with a time of 2:28.40.
In the women's 200,
Ashley Miller set a personal record and the No. 5 time in the MSU DII era as she raced to a 27.08 marking and 38th place.
On the men's side of the track in the 200,
Joseph Green finished 29th with a personal record and the third-fastest time in MSU DII era (22.73) and
Chase Doty finished 54th with a personal record (23.40).
Chloe Gunderson finished 21st in the women's shot put with a toss of 11.35 and
Peyton Lammerding placed 30th with a toss of 10.18.
In the women's 5K,
Caitlin Cornell set a personal record and the No. 4 in DII era time for Minot State with a 10th-place finishing time of 18:19 and
Lauren Reeves finished 15th with a time of 19:19.
In the men's 4x400, the team of Tandy, Cotterill, Doty, and Green ran a time of 3:26.12 to finish 7th-place in the meet. This is a Minot DII era No. 6 performance.
The Beavers track and field team is back in action on Friday, Feb. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 20 in the Black Hills State Stinger Open as they return to Black Hills State University for the third time this weekend. This coming meet is the final meet prior to the NSIC Championships which take place on Feb 26-27 in Mankato, Minn.
