FARGO, N.D. -- The Minot State track and field team travels to North Dakota State University to compete in the Bison Open on Friday, Feb. 5 in Fargo, N.D.
On Friday, the events begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 60m hurdles. Next up is the women's high jump at 12:10 p.m. Followed by the men's 60m dash at 12:30 p.m. and the only other event with a determined time in the long jump at 1:05 p.m.
The remaining events will have rolling starts with the women's and men's shot put, women's long jump and 800m run, and the men's high jump.
Leif Nelson posted a program record in the men's high jump during the first meet of the season.
MEET NOTES
LAST TIME OUT
The Beavers earned nine spots on the podium at the Dave Little Alumni Mile Invitational at Black Hills State University. MSU will attempt to continue to climb up the program record books and compete for a spot on the podium this weekend as the Beavers take a step up in competition with a faster meet at the NDSU Bison Open on Friday.
ACROSS THE TRACK
Nathan Trujillo-Aragon won the 60 hurdles for the second-consecutive week.
Whitney Hanson finished runner up in the mile and the 800m (2:22.91) and currently sits 39
th in NCAA Division II (5:02.25) in the mile. The 4x400 team of
Lewis Cotterill, Trujillo-Aragon,
Chase Doty, and
Joseph Green won the event with a time of 3:29.70.
IN THE FIELD
Breanna Johns-Oster finished 3
rd in the shot put with a toss of 11.85 meters to mark the highest finish for a Beaver in the field events.
Logan Krueger set a personal record with a toss of 14.42 in the men's shot put which earned his 5
th place finish.
PODIUM FINISHES
In all, the Beavers had nine athletes finish on the podium at the Dave Little Alumni Mile at Black Hills State University last weekend and have continued to add their names to the DII era record books and compete at some of the fastest times in the country at the DII level.
