DES MOINES, Iowa & ABERDEEN, S.D. -- The Minot State University track and field team had a busy weekend competing in both the Drake Relays/Kip Janvrin Open and the Northern State Open over the past two days.
Jacob Jensen and
Caitlin Cornell highlighted the top performances on the track with both setting new DII program records for the Beavers. Jensen posted a 6th-place finish in the 5000 with a time of 14:48.68 and Cornell finished 11th in the 5000 with a DII record time of 18:16.38.
Not to be outdone,
Gavin Jorgensen posted a time of 10:02.11 to finish 10th in the steeplechase and break a DII program record as well.
On the final day of the Drake Relays this morning, the men's 4x400m team of
Lewis Cotterill,
Juan Gutierrez,
Chase Tandy, and
Joseph Green ran a season-best of 3:22.21 to finish 20th. This will move them up on the NSIC performance list and is the No. 3 top-10 program-best time.

The Beavers also competed in the Northern State Open today.
Logan Krueger finished 4th in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 51.17m to post the highest finish in either a track or field event on the day. Krueger was joined by
Corbin Harris (10th) with a throw of 46.70m,
Samuel Kreins (15th) with a toss of 44.51, and
Hunter Clark (24th) with a throw of 40.21m.
Ashley Miller finished 5th in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 13.07. Fadzai Madaveo finished 16th in the same event with a time of 14.59.
Amber Stevahn, a Second-Team All-NSIC performer on the women's basketball team, raced in her first track event since high school with a 14th-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash (27.98) and 10th in the women's high jump (1.53m).
Elizabeth Holzer placed 10th in the women's 5000 with a time of 19:36.86.
Breanna Johns-Oster finished 11th in the shot put (12.00m) and 13th in the hammer throw (43.65m) to complete her day.
