LAKE CITY, M.N --- The Beaver men's and women's golf teams closed out their final fall regular-season tournament this afternoon at the Watkins Invitational.
The Minot State men's golf team faced significant competitors as 74 individuals took the green this week in Lake City. A total of 13 teams competed in the tournament, as the Beavers shot a 46-over 622 (313-309) overall.
Colton Horn led the way for the Beaver men tying for 36th overall as he shot 11-over 155 (80-75). Andrew Makarchuk and Carlos Caloca finished 1 stroke behind Horn, with 12-over 156 finishes by each of the athletes.
Easton Evanoff shaved 6 shots off his second-round score shooting a 16-over 160 (83-77) in the tournament. Sid Ullyott shot an 18-over 162 (78-84) to wrap up the week for the men's golf team.
Senior, Arron Grandy and redshirt freshman, Yashin Kapadia, competed as individuals on the men's side of the Watkins Invitational. They were 44th and 46th respectively for the Beavers as Grandy shot a 25-over 169 (84-85) and Kapadia shot a 29-over 173 (87-86).
Winona State won the men's team title with a 4-over 572 (288-284) and was led by Brady Holland, who finished second-overall.
On the women's side, all-around solid performances by the four women golfers as every athlete finished the two-day tournament in the Top 25. Overall, the team finished in sixth place with Anya Ross leading the way. Ross shot a 22-over 166 (80-86) and finished tied for 12th individually.
Holly Knudson finished her final tournament day one stroke behind Ross, tying for 14th at 23-over 167 (83-84), helping lead the Minot State women to a team score of 99-over 675 (335-340) as she remained consistent through tournament play.
Taylor Cormier followed came in close behind Knudson as she finished 2 strokes back. For the tournament, Cormier shot a 25-over 169 (84-85) and tied for 17th overall. Jaci Jones rounded out the team shooting a 29-over 173 (88-85) after shaving 3 strokes off her second-round score.
Winona State won the women's team title with a 49-over 625 (310-315) and was led by Carlie Moon, who was the individual champion with a 6-over 150 (70-80).
The Minot State golf teams will return to action this spring, as they prepare for the NSIC Championships.
