LAKE CITY, Minn. – The Minot State men's and women's golf teams completed the first round of play today at the Jewel Invitational, battling with many conference competitors.
On the men's side, Minot State sits in 8th place with a team total of 3-over par. Freshman Kasen Rostad delivered the standout performance of the day, shooting a career-best round of 3-under 69. Rostad's impressive play has him tied for 5th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Max Karnik and Zach Hendrickson provided steady support, both tying for 27th at 1-over par. Gunther Soltvedt is tied for 48th at 4-over par, while Gage Olson sits tied for 53rd at 5-over par. Fischer Johnson rounds out the lineup, tied for 72nd after a 19-over par round.
Winona State leads the men's competition with an impressive 12-under team total.
On the women's side, Minot State is currently in 11th place with a team score of 63-over par. Abigail Goettle leads the way for the Beavers, tied for 40th after finishing the day with a 12-over round. Close behind, Zoe Banack is tied for 42nd at 13-over par. Meadow Roberts sits tied for 58th at 18-over par, while Macie Sebelius is tied for 63rd shooting +20. Micaela Resler is tied for 70th with a +37 round.
Minnesota State, Mankato tops the women's team standings at 11-over par.
Both Minot State teams will return to the course Tuesday looking to climb the leaderboard and close out the Jewel Invitational on a strong note.
