RAPID CITY, S.D. – Minot State junior
Gunther Soltvedt charged up the leaderboard to finish tied for fourth, shooting a 3-over 75 during the final round Tuesday of the Texas Roadhouse Spring Invitational hosted by South Dakota Mines.
Soltvedt's top-5 finish paced the Minot State men's efforts at the tournament, as the Beavers finished 3
rd as a team with a two-day total of 55-over 631 (311-320).
While Soltvedt led the Minot State men, senior
Zoe Banack led the women as she tied for 11
th, shooting a second straight 12-over 84 during Tuesday's final round at the Golf Club at Red Rocks, finishing at 24-over 168.
The Minot State women finished 5
th as a team with a score of 178-over 754 (378-376).
South Dakota Mines won the men's team title by 6 shots with a two-day score of 28-over 604, while Montana State Billings won the women's team title by 15 strokes with a score of 54-over 630.
South Dakota Mines' Brycen Farris won the men's title by 3 shots with a 2-over 146 (72-74), and South Dakota Mines' Kenzie Schroeder won the women's title by 5 shots with a 7-over 151 (80-71).
While Soltvedt turned in a top-5 finish for the Minot State men, teammates
Zach Hendrickson and
Max Karnik helped out as they tied for 14th at 15-over 159 for the two-day tournament, with Hendrickson shooting 80-79 and Karnik 77-82.
Kasen Rostad was next for the Beavers as he tied 18th at 16-over 160 (76-84), and
Cameron Schwab rounded out the team scores, finishing 32nd at 40-over 184 (96-88).
Playing as individuals, Minot State's
Gage Olson tied for 18th at 16-over 160 (79-81),
Fischer Johnson finished 30th at 33-over 177 (86-91),
Jeremy Dewar was 31st at 38-over 182 (89-93), and
Joshua Lindbo finished 33rd at 43-over 187 (100-87).
The Minot State men continue a busy week of action as they now head east to Missouri for the NSIC Men's Championship, held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville, Missouri.
Helping out the Minot State women's team score were
Micaela Resler, who tied for 21st at 47-over 191 (92-99),
Macie Sebelius, who tied for 23rd at 52-over 196 (98-98), and
Carlie Brown, who tied for 26th at 55-over 199 (104-95).
The Minot State women get the next week off before they return to the course for the NSIC Women's Championships, held April 22-24, at the Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri.
