RAPID CITY, S.D. – Minot State's
Kasen Rostad,
Max Karnik, and
Gunther Soltvedt all find themselves in the top 10 in the men's standings, while the Beavers'
Zoe Banack is in the top 10 in the women's standings after the first day of play at the Texas Roadhouse Spring Invitational golf tournament hosted by South Dakota Mines.
Rostad, Karnik, and Soltvedt each shot within one stroke of each other on Monday at the Golf Club at Red Rock, leading the way for the Minot State men, who were third with a team score of 23-over 311.
Rostad is tied for 5
th at 4-over 76, while Karnik is tied for 7
th at 5-over 77, and Soltvedt is tied for 10
th at 6-over 78.
On the women's side, Banack shot a 12-over 84 and is tied for 7
th as she led the way for Minot State, which is 5
th after a team score of 90-over 378 for the first round.
Host South Dakota Mines leads the men's team race by 8 shots after a 12-over 300, and was paced by individual tournament leader Brycen Farris, who shot an even-par 72 for a 1-stroke lead.
Zach Hendrickson was next for the Minot State men as he shot an 8-over 80 and is tied for 16
th, and
Cameron Schwab rounded out the Beaver team scores, shooting 24-over 96 and is 32
nd.
Minot State sent out four players as individuals on the men's side, led by
Gage Olson, who is tied for 12th at 7-over 79, while
Fischer Johnson is tied for 26th at 14-over 86,
Jeremy Dewar is 30th at 17-over 89, and Josh Lindbo is 33rd at 28-over 100.
In the women's tournament, Montana State Billings shot a team score of 33-over 321 and holds an 8-shot lead, while South Dakota Mines' Alison Kennedy leads the individual tournament standings by 1 shot after a 6-over 78.
While Banack led the Minot State women,
Micaela Resler was next in 19th at 20-over 92,
Macie Sebelius was 25th at 26-over 98, and
Carlie Brown was 28th at 32-over 104.
The final round of the Texas Roadhouse Spring Invitational will be played on Tuesday.
