BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minot State men's and women's golf teams closed out play Tuesday at the 5th Annual Marauders Tournament, finishing the two-day event at Hawktree Golf Course.
On the men's side, the Beavers climbed the leaderboard to finish sixth overall with a team score of 37-over par. Freshman
Kasen Rostad once again paced Minot State, carding a two-day total of 5-over par to earn a tie for 10th place individually. Teammate
Zach Hendrickson also delivered a strong outing, tying for 14th at 7-over par.
"It was a battle, you know, got down a little bit at times, but happy with the way I finished," freshman
Kasen Rostad said. "It's been a good start, but as a team, you know, we'd like to get a little better in the standings. It's a team sport at the end of the day."
Gunther Soltvedt finished tied for 26th at 10-over par, while
Max Karnik and
Gage Olson each tied for 52nd at 18-over par.
Fischer Johnson rounded out the Beavers' lineup in 68th place at 24-over par.
Augustana claimed the men's team title, finishing at 14-over par for the tournament.
On the women's side, Minot State placed third overall with a team total of 139-over par. Leading the Beavers was
Zoe Banack, who turned in an impressive performance to tie for third place individually at 15-over par.
Macie Sebelius also finished strong, placing 13th at 39-over par.
"It feels really good, it's been a long time coming," senior
Zoe Banack stated. "I'm really excited, glad I could finally show myself. My parents are here this weekend so it's good that they finally got to see me play good golf."
Micaela Resler completed the tournament in 17th at 72-over par, while
Meadow Roberts and
Abigail Goettle did not finish.
The University of Jamestown won the women's team title with a score of 84-over par.
Both Minot State teams will now turn their attention to their next competition where they will head to Larchwood, Iowa to compete in the USF Fall Invitational at the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort on October 13th and 14th.
