Minot State women’s wrestling lands 2nd North Dakota recruit, signs Shelby Zachmeier

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's wrestling program continues to grow as another talented local wrestler from the great state of North Dakota has joined the Beavers newest athletic program.

Minot State head coach Brittney Mitchem is pleased to announce that Shelby Zachmeier from Mandan has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Beaver women's wrestling team as a freshman in the classroom at Minot State, and on the mats, starting in the fall of 2022.

"Shelby is a great kid that will be another hard worker in the room," Coach Mitchem said. "She has the hunger to learn and grow, and she will excel in the classroom as well.

"We are excited to have another local athlete be a part of building our strong foundation."

Zachmeier becomes the fifth member of the new Minot State women's wrestling program which begins its inaugural season of competition during the 2022-23 academic year. She also is the second wrestler from Mandan High School to sign with the Beavers, joining current teammate Carolyn Goebel who signed with Minot State in November.

Zachmeier, who currently is wrestling in the 155- and 170-pound weight classes for the Mandan Braves, is a national team member for North Dakota and a contender at the Fargo Nationals tournament.
