Garcia, Gorder, and Gotlieb all 6th for Beavers at 2nd tournament

FOREST CITY, Iowa – The trio of Jazmin Gorder, Annika Gotlieb, and Angelina Garcia led the way for the Minot State women's wrestling team in the program's second-ever competition, each finishing sixth in their weight class at the Waldorf Open tournament on Saturday.

Gorder finished 3-3 at 116 pounds where she earned sixth-place honors, and Gotlieb also was 3-3 at 130 pounds as she finished sixth.

Garcia went 0-3 at 235 pounds and also finished sixth.

Gorder picked up wins by pin and by technical fall, while all three of Gotlieb's wins came by pin.

Also in action was Nina Sandoval at 155 pounds, and despite not placing she finished 4-2 on the day including opening with a pin of Yaracely Saena of Indian Hills in 2 minutes, 1 second. Sandoval also picked up another win by pin, and one by technical fall on the day.

Madison Parson (191), Aurora Anderson (170), and Zoe Desloges (116) also competed, each going 0-2 at the tournament.

Next up for the Beavers will be their home debut on Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. as they host Chadron State (Neb.). Minot State then hosts the Beaver Bash Duals on Saturday, Nov. 19, starting at 10 a.m. with Chardon State, Minot State, Jamestown, and Saskatchewan all in action.
