FARGO, N.D. – A trio of Minot State student-athletes led the way Friday at the North Dakota State Bison Open indoor track and field meet with Top 10-finishes as the Beavers got their weekend of competition started in two states.
Ashley Miller,
Sophia Kenyon, and
Hunter Clark all finished eighth in their respective events Friday in Fargo, while the teammates
Trent Holiday,
Joseph Green,
Lewis Cotterill, and
Jacob Jensen, teamed up to add a fourth-place finish racing in Colorado.
Running in the women's 300 meters, Miller finished eighth at the North Dakota State meet in a time of 43.73 seconds, the Beavers fastest time in the event this winter.
Adding an eighth-place finish for the Minot State women was
Sophia Kenyon in the weight throw as she turned in a distance of 52 feet, 4 inches, the top effort this season for a Beaver and a throw that puts her in the Top 10 in the NSIC.
On the men's side,
Hunter Clark also was eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 50-8 for Minot State.
Meanwhile in Colorado, the Minot State men's distance medley relay team of Holiday, Green, Cotterill, and Jensen shaved six seconds off their previous best time this season, finishing fourth in the DMR at the Colorado School of Mines Winter Classic in 10 minutes, 37.59 seconds on Friday.
The Minot State track and field teams continue competition at both meets on Saturday.
