SPEARISH, S.D.- The Minot State men's track and field team saw another D2 era record go down as
Leif Nelson broke
Tanner Gusts' 2018 discus record which was 40.97 and is now 46.07. Nelson also recorded a NCAA provisional mark in Javelin while recording a first-place finish with a 59.55 meter mark. The Minot State men's team finished 5th on the day with 71 points while the women's team finished 3rd with a 90 score.
Joseph Green finished 3rd in the 400 meter dash with a 51.09 time. In the 800 meter run Jacob Jenson finished 3rd as well with a 2:00.08 time, Jensen also finished 2nd in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:01.68. Also in the 1500 meter run Nicholas Merillana finished 6th with a 4:10.51 time. The men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams each finished 3rd with times of 43.90 and 3:30.23 respectively.
Corbin Harris finishes the day 4th and Nelson finishes 5th on the day in shot put each with 14.21 meters and 14.12 meters respectively. Nelson's finish was also good for 2nd.
On the women's side
Ashley Miller took home 4th place in the 100 meter dash finishing with a 12.96, while in the 400 meter dash
Emily Hansen took the bronze with a 1:01.75 time. In the 1500 meter run the Beavers took the 1, 2 punch as
Paulette Dominguez finished 1st with a 5:03.45 time and
Jessica Martinez finished with a 5:07.51 time. The women's 4x100 meter relay team finished 1st with a time of 55.13 while the 4x400 meter relay finished 4th with a 4:49.56 time.
Amber Stevahn took 4th place in the high jump after jumping 4 feet and 11 inches. In shot put
Kori Nagel finished 2nd throwing 12.48 meters. In discus the Beavers took home 2nd, 3rd, and 4th as Nagel took 2nd with a 41.36 meter mark,
Chloe Gunderson took 3rd with a 38.42 meter mark, and Rebecca Eacker took 4th with a 37.69 meter mark. Rounding out the women's team
Tori Nygard took 5th with a 35.58 meter mark.
Up next for the Beavers the men's team will head to San Francisco, Calif. to participate in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic hosted by San Francisco State on April 1st, while both teams will participate in the USD Early Bird meet on April 2nd hosted by the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.
