DULUTH, MN. – It is that time of the season, where in crunch time, every moment matters. The Minot State Track and Field team has wrapped up 7 meets in 40 days. Now, they set their sights on the NSIC Outdoor Championship.
The Beavers head to Duluth, Minnesota for three days against the NSIC's best. The 3-day event starts on May 8. For May 9, running starts at 10:00 a.m., while field events are set to begin at 11. And on May 10, field events continue at 10:00 a.m. whereas the running portion of the meet is at 1:00 p.m.
Despite rain putting a damper on things, the Beavers finished the regular season on a high note last week in Bismarck for the UMary Tune-Up. There were 7 individual victories, with 4 coming from the men's team by
Deuce Carr,
Devan Daniels,
Marco Murillo, and
Nikita Neyshtadt.
Summer Krebsbach,
Paulette Dominguez, and
Afton Wride were the other 3 winners on the women's side.
In the men's 100 meters, Carr drove in at 10.89 seconds. The men's 200 meters saw Daniels finish at 22.17 seconds. Jumping ahead to the men's 800 meters, Murillo capped off his race at 1 minute, 59.12 seconds. And in the men's 1,500 meters, Neyshtadt had a time of 4 minutes, 25.14 seconds.
The women's team kicked things off with
Summer Krebsbach taking the women's 100-meter crown again at 12.03 seconds. For the women's 800 meters, Dominguez ran for a time of 2 minutes and 26.11 seconds, which ended up being a career high.
Moving towards the long jumps,
James Smith showed out for the Beavers. Smith leaped his way to 20 feet, 0.5 inches for 2
nd place.
Afton Wride picked up the win in the women's long jump, rounding out at 16 feet, 5 inches.
Kaydee Boyce was right in her shadow with a career-best 16 feet, 3 inches in the same event.
Dallas Reese rounded out the field events with a 2
nd-place result in the men's shot put. He finished with an outdoor career-best of 51 feet, 3 inches.
The Beavers will be in Duluth as the conference championship is set to run for 3 days and will conclude on Saturday May 10.
