Beavers look to stay hot at home against the Golden Bears and Wolves

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State baseball team returns to action Tuesday, April 12, at Corbett field. The Beavers face Concordia University-St. Paul in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. The Beavers will then kick off a 3-game series against Northern State University with back-to-back games Friday, April 15 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at home. Minot State will close out the 3-game series Saturday, April 16 at noon. 

 
Early Week Matchup 
The Beavers begin the 5-game home stand against the Golden Bears, who finished the 2021 season with a record of 15-23. After back-to-back losses against St. Cloud state over the weekend, Concordia-St. Paul holds a record of 15-12 (9-6) in 2022. Offensively, Jarod Wandersee leads the Golden Bears, batting .365 and scoring 20 runs this season. On the mound, Luke DeGrammont (3-1) has pitched 38.2 innings with 34 strikeouts and has an ERA of 2.09 currently.  


Scouting the Wolves 
The Beavers will then face the Northern State Wolves in a 3-game series to round out the week. Northern State has a record of 10-13 (5-5) after going 1-2 against the Minnesota State Mavericks over the weekend. Offensively, Ramon Vega Jr. leads the Wolves, batting .343 while raking in 23 hits this season. Reece Ragatz leads the team in runs and RBIs with 15 and 13, respectively. On the mound, Max Otto (5-1) has pitched 37.0 innings and has an ERA of 2.43. Otto leads Northern State with 36 strikeouts while only allowing 1 home run this season. 
 
Prominent Pitching 
NSIC Pitcher of the Week, RJ Martinez (4-0), leads the Beavers with 52 strikeouts this season. Martinez is coming off a record-setting performance after throwing 13 strikeouts in a single game. Martinez has an ERA of .69 and has only allowed 3 runs in the 2022 season. Dominick Parkhurst (2-0) has helped out for Minot State as well, with a 1.93 ERA while allowing 6 earned runs this season.  
 
Bashing Beavers 
The offense this season has been led by Senior, Declan Buckle, who has a .360 batting average. Outfielder, Drew Behling leads the Beavers in home runs with seven this season. Behling also leads Minot State with 36 hits and 28 RBIs. Matt Malone trails Behling closely behind with 34 hits in the 2022 season. Freshman, Dalin Ludlow, has been a stronghold for the Beavers, securing 9 stolen bases on 9 attempts.
