ABERDEEN, S.D.- The Minot State men's and women's track and field teams participated at day two of the NSIC Championship meet hosted by Northern State. MSU did not have any participants for the events on day one of the meet. Day three which is also the finale of the NSIC Championship meet will take place again in Aberdeen.
Some finals from the men's side saw
Joseph Green place 15th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.03 seconds. MSU had two runners in the 200 meter dash which saw
Kameron Toms take 13th with a time of 21.84 seconds and
Joseph Green placed 18th with a time of 22.01 seconds. The 400 meter dash saw the Beavers first top 10 finisher as Toms placed 7th with a time of 49.65 seconds while
Damian Nino and
Jaylan Brown rounded out the Beavers with places of 22nd and 26th each, respectively. Nino finished in 51.28 seconds and Brown finished in 51.96 seconds. The second Beaver top 10 finisher came in the 800 meter run as
Lewis Cotterill finished 6th in a time of 1:56.82 while
Juan Gutierrez placed 20th with a time of 2:01.26. The three Beaver participants in the 1,500 meter run each finished in sequence led by Nicholas Merillana in 14th with a time of 4:07.38.
Jacob Jensen finished right behind in 15th with a time of 4:07.83 and
Trent Holiday paced into 16th place with a time of 4:10.70. Freshman Camden Jasmin took 16th place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase thanks to his 10:31.04 time.
In the field events
Samuel Kreins led the Beaver charge in hammer throw in 17th place with a throw of 45.19 meters.
Corbin Harris and
Hunter Clark paced back-to-back in 19th and 20th places, respectively. Harris threw a 43.74 meters while Clark threw for 43.19 meters. For the shot put Harris threw a solid 14.71 meters for 7th place, while Kreins finished close behind in 10th at 14.25 meters.
On the women's side
Ashley Miller put the Beavers on the map in the 100 meter dash placing 20th with a time of 12.90 seconds.
Kori Nagel led the Beaver throws for the day thanks to her 24th place finish in hammer throw with a 38.19 meter throw. She followed up that throw with an 11th place finish in shot put with a 12.47 meter throw.
Jenna Hardy followed in 16th place with an 11.92 meter throw and rounding out the Beavers is Alician Garcia in 17th with a 11.71 meter throw.
The NSIC Championship meet will continue tomorrow where more Beavers will look to place on the podium and qualify for the NCAA Championships.
