CHADRON, Neb. – Freshman Pau Beebe and returning national qualifier
Haleigh Lematta led the way on Friday as both turned in a pair of wins by pin at the Chadron State duals for the Minot State women's wrestling team.
Skye Shelmerdine also picked up a pair of wins, one by technical fall and the other by pin, also helping lead the way for the Beavers who lost a pair of close duals, falling 26-24 to the host Eagles, then falling 29-20 to Snow College.
The Beavers (1-3 duals) are back in action Saturday competing in tournament action at the Chadron State Open.
Battling in dual action Friday, Beebe picked up her first win by pin in 3 minutes, 32 seconds in her 138-pound match against Hattie Baldwin from Chadron State. She then added another win by pin in 2:38 against Snow's Valery Ethington.
As for Lematta, her first win by pin came in 2:18 against the Eagles' Karstin Hollen in their 145-pound match before she added a pin in 3:54 against Isabelle Morgan from Snow.
As for Shelmerdine, she added a 14-4 technical fall victory over Trona Bates from Chadron State at 124 pounds to start her day before winning by pin in 2:03 over Snow's Jamie Barton.
Keela Kary added one more win by pin for the Beavers against Chadron State at 131 pounds in 1:18 over Maddox Gehlhausen, and
Megan Ebach (160) received a forfeit victory for Minot State.
Against Snow,
Madilyn Schuck added the other victory for the Beavers in the dual, scoring a win by pin in 2:59 at 207 pounds over Chloe Colvin.
