BROOKINGS, S.D. - It was a memorable evening on the track for the Beavers' senior distance runner
Grayson Bonilla.
Bonilla nearly won the men's 5,000 meters Friday evening at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic, finishing second in the event in a career-best time of 15 minutes, 49.17 seconds.
Bonilla's time ranks ninth-best in the NSIC this winter and led the way for the Minot State track and field teams at the meet, which concludes Saturday.
Emery Smith led the way for the Minot State women as she was 10th in the women's 5,000 meters in 18:34.38, while teammate
Paulette Dominguez added an 18
th-place finish in the women's 3,000 in 10:33.67, and
Camden Jasmin was 49th in the men's 3,000 meters in 9:17.44 as a limited number of Beavers competed on Friday night.
