Beavers Baseball Hosts UMARY at 1:30 C.T Wednesday

Minot State (11-23 overall, 8-16 NSIC) is back at home after finishing a thrilling victory over the University of Sioux Falls where they totaled 9 runs in the ninth to stun the Cougars.

The victory is a good sign for the future because it exemplifies the team's ability to band together during the toughest moments of the game to secure a win and when it comes to rivalries, that is the mentality needed if you want that extra edge over the opponent.

The University of Mary (14-19 overall, 10-13 NSIC) is no stranger to road games, as they have played 27 of their 33 total games away from home. They are coming off a (1-2) series loss to St. Cloud State University this past weekend and will be looking to turn this road trip into wins.

History is not on the side of the Marauders, as Minot State leads the rivalry record   (23-12) heading into the midweek doubleheader. The Beavers also took the most recent matchup last season at home (9-7).

Ricky Apodaca enters the matchup on a 14-game hit streak and will look to help lead the way in the box for Minot State. Batting a team-high .455 AVG and showing off an impressive 1.171 OPS, Apodaca can be the catalyst that ignites his teammates.

Sophomore Noah Madas, junior Brent Riddle, and senior Mark Ossanna have also been key contributors for the Beavers, posting plus .945 OPS percentages, a clear indication that they have little difficulty making contact and getting on base.

Head coach Sam Boisner has named junior Gage Eastlick as the starting pitcher for game one. It will be the third start for Eastlick this season who enters the game with 22 strikeouts. Coach Boisner and his staff have shown continued confidence in the pitchers that they send out whether to start or in relief and you would want to be on the edge of your seat to see who else will get the opportunity to toss pitches for the Beavers come Wednesday.
