ABERDEEN, S.D. – Sunday was
Sidra Sadowsky's day to shine for the Minot State track and field team.
Sadowsky clocked a career-best time and broke a seven-year-old record as she won the women's 1,500 meters at the Dewey Donat Classic hosted by Northern State.
Her victory was one of three on the day for the Beavers as
Ramon Duran won the men's 400-meter hurdles and
Paulette Dominguez won the women's 5,000 meters, and her record was one of two for Minot State as
Hayleigh Solano broke her own heptathlon record, as well.
Sadowsky won the 1,500 in 4 minutes, 43.82 seconds, which shaved .06 seconds off the NCAA Division II school record run by Jana Jones back in 2017 (4:43.88).
Also turning in an NCAA D-II record was Solano who scored 2,672 points in the grueling, seven-event heptathlon to finish 6
th at the Dewey Donat Classic and break her own school record of 2,302 points, which she set two weeks earlier.
Leading the way for the Minot State men's team was Duran who won the 400 hurdles in 54.13 seconds on Sunday, while teammates
Devontae Daley and Holter Bridwell nearly added a victory each as Daley was 2
nd in the men's 800 meters in 1:55.08 and Bridwell was 2
nd in the 5,000 in 17:00.29.
While Bridwell was second in the men's 5K, Dominguez and teammate
Nicole Reeves gave the Beavers a one-two finish in the women's race as Dominguez won in 18.18.76 and Reeves finished 2nd in 18:28.52.
The Minot State women also picked up two second-place finishes on the day as
De'Andre Cornwall was 2
nd in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.60 and
Bailey Wride was 2
nd in the 800 meters in 2:21.50.
Next up for the Minot State track and field teams will be a busy weekend of action as some of the Beavers will be in Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays, while the majority of the Beavers will compete Saturday at the Ron Masanz Classic hosted by Minnesota State Moorhead.
