DICKINSON, N.D. – Setting up for the 3
rd of 5 straight meets in North Dakota, the Minot State Track and Field team prepares for another in-state contest.
The Beavers will be busy on Easter break as they are travelling to the Queen City of the Prairies for the Blue Hawk Games hosted by Dickinson State. Start time is TBA on Saturday.
Many who don the Beaver red and black have already made significant achievements in this North Dakota stretch, and they search for more this weekend.
Summer Krebsbach and the Wride sisters lead some of the noteworthy performances from last week's NDSU Spring Invite.
Krebsbach captured her first career NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the women's 100 meters. Having gone for 11.73 seconds, it set a record that was previously held by herself at 12.07. And in the 200M, she followed up with a 2
nd place finish with a time of 24.50 seconds. That happened to be another record that surpassed her old time from last year at 25.38.
Bailey Wride and
Afton Wride are coming off individual victories in the women's 1500 meters and the women's triple jump. For Bailey, she outpaced the competition with a final time of 4:45.60. Staying in the family lineage, Afton won the women's triple jump after finishing at 37 feet and 1 inch. She etched her name into the Minot State record books with the 4
th best triple jump in all-time school history, passing Hannah Johnsen (2011) who had 36 feet and 8 inches.
Sidra Sadowsky was 2
nd in the women's 800M after clocking in with a time of 2:17.44.
The men also had their share of individual success, highlighted by
Ramon Duran. In the men's 400-meter hurdles, the Senior picked up the win at 54.17 seconds.
In a record-breaking output,
Holter Bridwell got 4
th in the men's 3000 steeplechase. Bridwell went for 9:58.96, which eclipses the 3
rd best time in the NCAA era for the event as he passed Gavin Jorgensen's time of 10.02.11.
Peyton Tuhy,
Devan Daniels,
Evan Hartt, and
James Smith all had 5
th place finishes in their respective events.
Tuhy finished at 4:02.64 in the men's 1500 meters. Daniels went for 10.77 seconds in the men's 100 meters, while
James Smith jumped for 43 feet and 2 inches in the men's triple jump. For
Evan Hartt, he threw 150 feet and 9 inches in the men's discus.
Those are the events to keep an eye on for Minot State Track and Field this week. Following the Blue Hawk Games, the speedy Beavers will return for a second trip to Fargo in the Bison Open on April 24 and 25.
