MINOT, N.D. - A Minot star is getting his chance to shine once again in his hometown.
Minot State basketball coach Randall Herbst is pleased to confirm that former Minot High standout Darik Dissette has transferred from North Dakota State and will help lead the way for the Beavers on the hardwood this coming season.
"I'm super excited to have Darik join the Minot State basketball program and come back home to the Magic City!!" Herbst said of the 6-foot-4 junior guard. "He's got great versatility, can play multiple positions, and causes problems for opponents on both ends of the floor.Â
"Darik has a Championship-level work ethic, a Championship-level attitude, and he's a class-act human being," Minot State's coach added. "Can't wait to get started!!"
"I'm really excited to come back home and play for a hometown crowd again!" said Dissette, who was named North Dakota's Mr. Basketball and the North Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year following his senior season at Minot High (2022-23).
The Magicians' all-time leading scorer with 1,754 points in his prep career, Dissette helped lead Minot HS to the 2021-22 North Dakota Class A state championship and averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.2 steals as a senior.
Over the past two seasons with the NCAA Division I Bison, Dissette played in 61 games with 4 starts, averaging just over 11 minutes per game. He averaged 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game with NDSU, which included career-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds against South Dakota in an 82-78 win on February 26 this past winter.
"I think the support system of Minot, the coaches, and players really showed they wanted me to come back," Dissette said of his decision to return home.
"I think I can bring a couple things to the program," he added, "not just scoring, but I feel like I can help on the defensive end!"
