Beavers Return Home for NSIC Matchups

MINOT, N.D. — The Minot State women's basketball team returns home this week as Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play continues following a split in last weekend's road contests.

The Beavers enter the week with an 8-11 overall record and a 5-7 mark in NSIC action after falling to Southwest Minnesota State on Friday before bouncing back with a decisive win over Sioux Falls on Saturday.

Minot State opened the weekend with a 92-73 loss to Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota. Taryn Hamling led the Beavers with 20 points and two blocks, while Maya Aguilar contributed 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Jessica Mogen added 10 points. Minot State showed early momentum, using a 10-0 run in the first quarter to take the lead, but Southwest Minnesota State pulled away in the second half despite the Beavers' efficient perimeter shooting.

The Beavers responded Saturday night with an 83-65 road victory over Sioux Falls, rallying from a 15-point halftime deficit. Hamling turned in a standout performance, scoring a game-high 30 points to go along with three steals. Tiyahna Trottier and Mogen each added 13 points, while Minot State's ball movement fueled the comeback, as the Beavers recorded 18 assists and knocked down 15 three-pointers.

Defensively, Minot State applied consistent pressure, forcing 15 turnovers and limiting Sioux Falls' opportunities down the stretch. The Beavers took control in the fourth quarter with a 14-0 run and pulled away for the win.

This week, Minot State returns to the Minot State University Dome for two home conference contests. The Beavers will host Augustana University on Friday, January 23, with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m., before welcoming Wayne State College on Saturday, January 24, at 3:30 p.m. Minot State will look to carry its momentum, perimeter shooting, and balanced scoring into the home slate as NSIC play continues.
