SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The Minot State men's golf team is back on course this Monday and Tuesday for its second event of the spring, the NSIC Conference Preview at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club.
The Beavers returned to action two weeks ago, finishing 11
th at the Mavericks Desert Classic in Goodyear, Arizona, where Minot State turned in a team total of 40-over 616 (303-313) at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
The tournament in Arizona featured NSIC foes Augustana, Bemidji State, Concordia-St. Paul, and host Minnesota State, Mankato, conference teams that Minot State will compete alongside this week, along with Mary, Minnesota Crookston, Sioux Falls, and Winona State, on the same course that will host the 54-hole, NSIC Championships in mid-April.
That makes this week a great test for Minot State in preparation for the Championships, which are less than a month away.
In the spring opener, freshman
Kasen Rostad led the way for the Beavers with a 4-over 148, shooting back-to-back rounds of 2-over 74.
Teammate and senior
Zach Hendrickson also played well in the opener, as he opened the event with a 2-over 74 and finished at 10-over 154 (74-80) for Minot State.
This week's NSIC Preview is the second of three spring events for the Beavers in preparation for the NSIC Championships, held April 17-19. Following this week's tournament in Missouri, the Minot State men and women will compete in the Texas Roadhouse Spring Invitational hosted by South Dakota Mines, April 13-14, both team's final regular-season tournament.
