SMITHVILLE, Mo. -
Gunther Soltvedt and
Zach Hendrickson led the way for the Minot State men's golf team on Monday, each shooting rounds of 2-over 74, helping the Beavers land in 13th place after the first day of the NSIC Conference Preview Tournament.
Soltvedt carded four birdies during his round of 74, while Hendrickson had a pair of birdies on the day at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club, host site for next month's NSIC Men's Golf Championship. The Beaver duo sit tied for 14th in the individual standings.
The second and final round of the NSIC Preview tees off Tuesday in Missouri.
While Soltvedt and Hendrickson led the way for the Beavers,
Kasen Rostad helped out with an 8-over 80 during Monday's first round, while
Cameron Schwab and
Max Karnik both turned in matching 12-over 84s on Monday. Rostad's first-round score has him 70th in the individual standings, while Schwab and Karnik are tied for 91
st.
Gage Olson, playing as an individual, shot 15-over 87 on Monday and is 95th.
As a team, the Beavers turned in a first-round total of 24-over 312.
Winona State leads the team standings by five shots after day one, as the Warriors shot a 2-over 290 on Monday.
Augustana sits in second place with a 7-over 295.
Freddie Muggeridge, from Southwestern Community College, leads the individual standings by one shot after his opening-round 3-under 69.
