Max Karnik made a big charge while
Zach Hendrickson continued his consistent play for Minot State, as they led the Beaver men's golf team Tuesday in the final round of the NSIC Preview Tournament at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club.
Karnik carded the best round of the week for Minot State, a 1-over 73, while Hendrickson followed up a 2-over 74 on Monday with a 3-over 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 23rd as the Beavers' top finisher for the tournament.
Their efforts led the Beavers, who were 14
th as a team with a two-day team total of 40-over 616 (312-304), as Minot State finished strong on Tuesday with a 16-over 304 score.
While Hendrickson was the low scorer for the Beavers,
Gunther Soltvedt was next for Minot State as he tied for 39
th at 8-over 152 (74-78) for the two-day tournament, then came Karnik, who finished tied for 68
th at 13-over 157 (84-73).
Kasen Rostad tied for 73
rd for Minot State at 14-over 158 (80-78), and
Cameron Schwab was 86
th at 18-over 162 (84-78) to round out Minot State's team scores.
Gage Olson, who played as an individual, tied for 88
th at 19-over 163 (87-76).
Winona State claimed the team title by 13 strokes as they shot a 2-under 574 (290-284), while the Warriors' Peyton Coahran shared the individual tournament title with Minnesota Crookston's Marc Bofarull, as both turned in 3-under 141s for the 36-hole event.
The NSIC Preview was the second event of the spring schedule for the Minot State men, who are back in action next month playing at the Texas Roadhouse Spring Invitational hosted by South Dakota Mines on April 13-14, their final tune-up prior to the NSIC Championships, April 17-19, back at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club.
