MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State Women's Soccer team returns home this weekend for a pair of NSIC contests, hosting Bemidji State University on Friday, September 25, at 5:30 p.m. before facing University of Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, September 27, at 1 p.m. at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium.
Minot State enters the weekend with a 2-5-0 overall record and 1-3-0 mark in NSIC play after splitting a pair of home contests last weekend, defeating Winona State University 2-0 on Friday before falling 2-0 to Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday.
The Beavers opened the weekend with a 2-0 shutout victory over Winona State. Adriana Gonzalez scored her first collegiate goal in the 24th minute, assisted by Jayva McKibben and Anahyssa Nash. Iliana Rivera added her first goal of the season in the 78th minute, assisted by Elena Pacheco, to finish the scoring. Goalkeeper Rebecca Sargent recorded four saves as Minot State held the Warriors scoreless, while the Beavers registered five shots on goal.
Minot State then faced Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday, with the Golden Bears taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. The Beavers kept Concordia-St. Paul off the scoreboard throughout the second half, with Sargent making four saves. Minot State recorded seven shots in the contest, including four on goal.
The Beavers return to Herb Parker Stadium looking to continue building momentum and carry the positives from last weekend into another pair of NSIC contests. Minot State will face Bemidji State on Friday before closing the weekend against Minnesota Duluth on Sunday.
