THIS WEEK: Minot State plays a split week in the Dakota Athletic Conference as the Beavers play host to No. 21 Jamestown College Wednesday at the MSU Dome (5:30 p.m.) and will have to wait until Sunday for game 2 as they take on Valley City State (4 p.m.) also at the Dome.
RECORDS: MSU is 12-6 overall and 3-4 in Dakota Athletic Conference play. JC boasts a 15-4 record overall and is second in the conference at 5-2. VCSU is third in the DAC at 4-3 and is 14-7 overall.
COACHES CORNER: Minot State's
Sheila Green Gerding is in her 16th season at the helm of the Beavers. She has a record of 280 wins, 182 losses all at Minot State. The Jimmies are coached by first year head coach Greg Ulland. Ulland is 15-4 overall and with JC. Jill DeVries is third to South Dakota Mines' Barb Felderman and Green Gerding in longest tenure in the DAC as she is in her 12th season at VCSU. DeVries is 137-173 overall and with the Vikings.
SPECIAL CELEBRATION: Minot State will celebrate its acceptance into the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with cake, ice cream and refreshments in between the men's and women's game Wednesday. The event will take place on the third floor of the Dome and is free to everyone attending the game.

RANKINGS: MSU fell out of the NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Coaches' Poll for the first time this season, falling all the way to the receiving votes category. Jamestown College moved into the poll at a tie for No. 21 and Valley City State is also in the receiving votes column.
RECENT HISTORY: MSU fell twice on the road in South Dakota, getting beat 76-68 at Mines and falling 8-74 at No. 5 Black Hills State. The Beavers are in the midst of a season-high three-game losing streak. Jamestown College has won three in a row – and eight of its past nine games – as they blew out Dakota State, 84-53, and Mayville State, 110-73, at home last weekend. VCSU also topped Mayville (55-44) and Dakota 88-54) last weekend at home.
OVERALL SERIES: The Beavers are 32-43 after breaking a five-game losing skid to the Jimmies last season. Minot State hasn't defeated JC at home since February 2008. MSU leads VCSU 39-38 overall as the Vikings snapped a two-game losing streak with a win in January last season.
NOTING THE JIMMIES: Jamestown College is currently on a three-game winning streak, but that is far short of two other winning streaks the Jimmies have put together this season. After losing its first two games, JC won its next seven. The Jimmies lost to then No. 13 ranked Minot State before going on a five-game winning streak, snapped by No. 5 Black Hills State. Of the four losses by JC so far this season, three have come at the hands of top 25 teams at the time of the loss… JC's Bridget Schuneman is the No. 1 ranked field goal shooter in the country by percentage as she has hit 70.6 percent of her shots this season… Hannah Steele is fourth in the country in assists per game, dishing out 5.7… The Jimmies are nearly averaging 10 3-pointers made per game, coming into the week's games at 9.79 made per game. JC is averaging 80.4 points per game, good for fourth best in NAIA Division II. There low output of the season came in a 72-63 loss to Minot State in December.
NOTING THE VIKINGS: Valley City State's Kristin Bearstail has risen up the VCSU scoring chart behind solid 3-point shooting. Bearstail, the Vikings leading scorer at 13.06 per game, is 17th in NAIA Division II, hitting 2.6 3s a game and is 46th overall in percentage (38.8)… Caitlyn Wojahn has 54 steals so far this season, helping the Vikings to a 4.95 turnover margin this season. Wojahn is ranked in steals and assists (73) in the NAIA… Six of VCSU's seven losses are on the road this year… VCSU edges Minot State by just under two points as the league's top scoring defense, giving up just 59.91 points per game.
FOLVY WATCH CONTINUES: Minot State's
Caroline Folven's (Sr., C, Byron, Ill.) did not break the 1,000 point barrier last weekend, but could become the school's 10th player to reach 1,000 career points this weekend as the senior is just 11 points shy of the milestone. Folven, who leads the Beavers with a 12.2 scoring average, is just 50 rebounds short of 500 for her career.
COMING ON STRONG: Minot State senior
Kelly Pankratz (G, Malta, Mont.) has nearly doubled her season point total in the past four game games. Pankratz scored 39 points in four games, including 24 total in two games last weekend at South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State. She had just 43 points coming into that stretch.
BOAG MISS CLEAN ON THE GLASS: Minot State freshman
Carly Boag (F, Tamworth, Australia) leads the Dakota Athletic Conference in rebounds per game at 7.11 an outing. Boag has five games of 10 or more and has a team-leading five double-doubles this season.
