Box Score ABERDEEN, S.D. – Going to No. 22 Northern State proved to be too much the Minot State University volleyball team.
In three sets (13-25, 9-25, 17-25) the Beavers struggled to get there offense in sync recording 18 attack errors and hitting a .082 attack percentage.
What the Beavers did well is what they have done well all season with their freshmen complimenting their seniors. Freshman
Logan Desorcy (L, St. Andrews, Manitoba) played well on defense leading the team with seven digs while
Kelsey Dewulf (Fr., S, Huntley, Ill.) set up 22 assists.
Senior
Mallory Sall (OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) led the team with six attacks still recovering from an ankle injury. Fellow senior
Tarah Dabovich (MH, Phoenix, Ariz.) finished with four kills, and four digs.
Even with the seniors leading the team MSU couldn't overcome the power of Northern State.
"That is a ranked team for a reason," said head coach
Ben Kaszeta. "Number one was on fire today. We couldn't stop her."
Kaszeta was talking about Northern State's Kelsey Chambers who had 13 kills on 23 attempts. Chambers also served one ace and had two block assists. As a team the Wolves hit a .458 attack percentage.
Coming away with some positives from the experience coach Kaszeta knows that seeing a team this dominant will help in the long run.
"I hope that as we get back to healthy we can learn from this match and take what we need from it in order to be successful in the NSIC," Kaszeta said.
The Beavers will get that chance as they return home next week for a three game stint against Mary, Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston on September 22, 25 and 26.
