THIS WEEK: Minot State will try to extend its home winning streak as the Beavers play host to Concordia-St. Paul Friday at 8 p.m. and Minnesota State Saturday at 6 p.m. in the last NSIC North-South Division matchup of the regular season.
RECORDS: The Beavers are 10-12 overall and 5-11 in NSIC North play, sitting in seventh place overall. CSP is 8-14 overall and is also 5-11 and in seventh place in the South. Minnesota State comes into the weekend in second in the South with a 10-6 record and is 15-7 overall.
COACHES CORNER: Minot State's
Matt Murken is in his fourth season as head coach of the Beavers. He's compiled a 44-63 record during his first four seasons with Minot State and is 91-79 throughout his six year head coaching career. In his first season with the MSU, Murken increased the Beavers' win total by six from the previous year including the program's first ever win against a NCAA Division II ranked opponent (68-62, No. 19 St. Cloud State, Jan. 5, 2012). Before his time at Minot State, Murken was the head coach at the University of Jamestown where he compiled and impressive 46-16 overall record and was named Dakota Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2012. Joey James is the head coach for the Golden Bears and is 27-35 in two seasons. James is 39-43 overall, including an interim season at NCAA Division I University of South Dakota. Matt Margenthaler in in his 15 th season as the head coach at Minnesota State. Margenthaler, who just signed a contract extension, is the school's all-time wins leader with 323 and is 323-130 overall in his career.

RANKINGS: While Minnesota State has received votes in multiple polls this season, none of the three teams were ranked in the latest NABC Division II Top 25 Poll. The Mavericks are ranked in the latest D2SIDA Central Region Poll, coming in at No. 6 in the Central.
RECENT HISTORY: Minot State struggled early in a 92-81 loss at Wayne State College Saturday and then ran into No. 1 ranked Augustana University, falling 97-65 for a pair of road losses.
Dominique McDonald (Sr., G, Raleigh, N.C.) and
Winston Williams (Sr., F, Plainfield, Ill.) scored 14 apiece for the Beavers against WSC, while Williams added six rebounds. Against the top team in the country,
Chris Davis (Sr., G, Colorado Springs, Colo.) paced MSU with 15 points and five rebounds. The Golden Bears had their best weekend to date topping No. 3 ranked MSU Moorhead 98-97 in two overtimes Friday and then finished off Northern State 84-76 Saturday. Cole Olstad combined for 50 points on the weekend including 29 against NSU. The Mavericks also needed two overtimes Friday, defeating Northern State in a shootout 119-115. They couldn't get another in an extra session however as MSUM edged the Mavs 84-89 Saturday. Jalen Pendleton scored 42 in the win over NSU and finished with 70 points in two games.

LAST TIME OUT: The Beavers won a wild double overtime game 99-91 at Concordia-St. Paul last season, outscoring the Golden Bears 14-6 in the second OT.
Thomas Korf hit five 3s for 26 points, while
Dominique McDonald (Sr., G, Raleigh, N.C.) scored 20 and added seven assists for MSU. Terez VanPelt paced CSP with 22 points, five rebounds and five assists. Minot State couldn't find the same magic the following night as they dropped an 81-62 contest at Mankato. MSU trailed by just seven at the break, but ran out of gas in the second half.
Lamont Prosser finished with 15 points for Minot, while Minnesota State's Assem Marei and Zach Monaghan combined for 36 points, 12 rebounds in the win.
NOTING THE GOLDEN BEARS: Concordia-St. Paul earned just its third winning streak of the season with the pair of wins over then No. 3 MSU Moorhead Friday in double overtime and Northern State Saturday. The Golden Bears have not won more than three games in a row this season… Cole Olstad has led CSP in scoring 13 times this year and has a solid 15.2 scoring average to go with a 5.3 rebounding average… Shea Mandli is second on the team in scoring (11.4) and leads the Golden Bears in rebounding (6.2)… Olstad and Matt Ambriz have 75 of the team's 120 3-pointers this season… Diallo Powell has hit 54 of 65 free throws on the season… Olstad and Mandli are the only two players who have started every game as CSP has started a total of nine different individuals…
NOTING THE MAVERICKS: Minnesota State's Jalen Pendleton has only led the team in scoring 10 times, but has done so five times in the past seven games and has hit for 42, 30, 28 and 27 on the season… The Mavericks are one of the top scoring teams in the league, averaging 83.8 points per game and have outscored opponents by 7.2 per game… Jon Fuqua leads team in rebounds with 156 and has scored 312 points, second on the team… Snoop Viser has turned the ball over just 16 times in 543 minutes and is second on the team with 60 assists… Joey Witthus is fourth on the team in scoring averaging 11.7 per game and his 59 of 121 (48.8 percent) 3-pointers… Pendleton has 112 assists this season and has helped the Mavs to a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio with 335 assists compared to just 233 turnovers.

Luis Ricci Maia (Franca, Sao Paulo, Brazil) has moved into the top 15 in the Northern Sun with a 3.3 assist-per-game average to lead the Beavers. His 72 assists are two more than senior
Dominique McDonald (G, Raleigh, N.C.) and nine better than fellow guard
Nathan Mertens (Jr., G, Devils Lake, N.D.). The trio has 205 helpers on the year.
HE'S GOT 999, BUT DOM JUST NEEDS ONE: MSU senior guard
Dominique McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) is just a point shy of 1,000 in his four-year career. McDonald has 999 points in 103 games for a 9.7 average. He will become the 15 th player to reach 1,000 in school history and the second in as many seasons as
Thomas Korf netted 1,000 last season. McDonald is 15 th overall in scoring in school history, having just passed former NAIA All-American Courtney Haley, who had 981 points in two seasons for the Beavers. McDonald is currently just 42 points behind another two-year star for the Beavers Aaron Patterson who finished with 1,041.
DOME COOKING: MSU is looking to extend their home winning streak to six games Friday as the Beavers have won four straight NSIC games and five straight overall dating back to just before the holiday break. MSU is 8-3 overall at home this year, 17-8 over the past two seasons and is 29-24 since head coach Matt Merken took over in 2012-13.
