MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State baseball team continues Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Tuesday when the Beavers take on Minnesota Crookston in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. in Watford City, N.D. The doubleheader was originally set to be the home opener for the Beavers at Corbett Field, but was moved to Watford City, N.D. due to unplayable field conditions.
Minot State is 6-2 NSIC play after winning three of four games vs. Minnesota State in Plattsmouth, Neb. last week.
The series win is the first time the Beavers have won a series over the Mavericks since joining the NSIC.
Minot State is hitting .252 as a team with 97 runs, 140 hits, 31 doubles, three triples and 16 home runs on the season.
Ethan Fleming leads Minot State at the plate while hitting .333, followed by
Michael Borst,
Darrel Doll and
Dustin Wilcox who are hitting .286.
Doll leads the NSIC with six home runs while also leading Minot State with 21 RBIs on the season.
Kyle Williamson has notched three home runs while
Zack Kunkel and
Celestino Rodriguez have posted two home runs apiece.
Scouting the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles
Minnesota Crookston enters Tuesday with a 10-11 overall record and 0-6 mark in the NSIC this season. Reed Hjelle leads the Golden Eagles at the plate while batting .410 with a team-high three home runs and 25 RBIs on the season. Anthony Stewart is hitting .329 while Ethan Mushitz also leads the team with three home runs. Parker Hanson has started six games on the mound and posted a 1-4 record and struck out 29 batters in 36 innings of work.
As a team, the Golden Eagles are hitting .262 with 107 runs, 175 hits, 29 doubles and nine triples and home runs. The Minnesota Crookston pitching staff has a team ERA of 5.21 while surrendering 115 runs on 203 hits and striking out 161 opposing batters.
Head coach Steve Gust is in his fourth season at Minnesota Crookston with a record of 73-97 and career record of 227-254 in his 10
th season of coaching.

Minot State leads the all-time series with Minnesota Crookston, 24-13. The Beavers fell to the Golden Eagles 2-1 in Crookston, Minn. on March, 30 2017 in their last meeting.
