Beavers Venture East to Face SCSU

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State baseball team travels to St. Cloud, Minn. to take on St. Cloud State in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 25 beginning at 3 p.m.

Quick Hits

Minot State is 21-4 in NSIC play after sweeping Bemidji State and winning three of four games from Sioux Falls.

Celestino Rodriguez led the Beavers at the plate, hitting .481 with two home runs and 13 RBIs last week.

Jaymon Cervantes tossed a complete-game two-hitter in an 8-1 victory vs. USF while striking out eight batters.

Andres Hackman threw a complete-game shutout and struck out seven Cougars while allowing seven hits in a series-opening 3-0 win over Sioux Falls.

Minot State is hitting .286 as a team with 243 runs, 310 hits, 75 doubles, six triples and 39 home runs on the season.

Rodriguez leads Minot State in hitting at .349, followed by Michael Borst (.344) and Wyatt Schlosser (.333).

Darrel Doll is tied for first in the NSIC with eight home runs while also ranked sixth with 34 RBIs on the season.

Rodriguez has launched six home runs while Justin Demary, Kyle Williamson and Schlosser have notched four home runs each.

Scouting the St. Cloud State Huskies

St. Cloud State enters the doubleheader with a 23-12 overall record and 16-7 mark in NSIC play this season. Caeden Harris leads the Huskies in hitting with a .380 batting average and five triples. Mitch Mallek is hitting .367 with four home runs and nine doubles. Dominic Austing is 4-1 on the season with a 2.33 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 58 innings of work.

As a team, the Huskies are hitting .305 with 226 runs, 340 hits, 56 doubles, 10 triples and 24 home runs. The St. Cloud State pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.85 while surrendering 123 earned runs on 290 hits and striking out 258 opposing batters.

Head coach Pat Dolan is 429-153-1 in his 11th season at SCSU and holds a career record of 681-340-1 in his 20th overall season of coaching.

Series History

St. Cloud State leads the all-time series with Minot State, 20-3. The Huskies swept the Beavers in a doubleheader last season on April 26, 2017 in Minot, N.D.
