2018 NSIC Baseball Tournament Bracket
MINOT, N.D. – No. 1 seeded Minot State opens the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference baseball tournament against eighth-seeded Northern State at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at Karras Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Minot State earned the number one seed after winning its first NSIC Regular Season Championship with a league record of 29-6.
The Beavers notched a four-game series sweep last weekend at Mary, extending their win streak to eight games and setting a program record with their 31
st win of the season.
Michael Borst leads Minot State at the plate with a .355 batting average, followed by
Justin Demary (.333) and
Celestino Rodriguez (.331).
Darrel Doll and Rodriguez rank second in the NSIC with a team-high nine home runs while the Beavers rank first as a team with 47 home runs and 95 doubles on the season.
Wyatt Schlosser leads the NSIC with 19 doubles and ranks fourth with 19 stolen bases.
Jaymon Cervantes is 5-0 on the season in six starts while
Tannar Galey is 4-0 with a 0.90 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 13 relief appearances.
The winner of the NSIC Baseball Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The NCAA Central Region is made up of 40 teams from the NSIC (15), Mid-America Athletic Association (13) and Great American Conference (12).
Automatic bids are awarded to the tournament champions from each conference with the final five sports awarded on an at-large basis.
In all, eight teams will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament played on May 17-21.
