Baseball Posts Saturday Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. – The Minot State baseball completed a Saturday sweep as the Beavers posted a 16-3 victory over Concordia (Neb.) before defeating NSIC foe Concordia-St. Paul 11-1 in seven innings in Tucson, Ariz.
 
Minot State improves to 3-6 on the weekend with the pair of victories.

Notes
  • The Beavers scored a run in the first inning before tacking on 10 runs on nine hits to take an 11-0 lead after two innings.
  • The Bulldogs scored two runs in the fifth inning and added their final run in the six inning.
  • Leading 12-3, Minot State scored four runs in the ninth inning to clinch the 16-3 victory.
  • Reilly O'Rourke earned the victory on the mound while tossing six innings.

How It Happened
  • Mason Gifford opened the second inning with a triple and scored on an RBI single from Ryley Humrighouse to give the Beavers the 1-0 lead.
  • Wyatt Schlosser touched home on a CSP error before RBI singles from Geordie McDougall, Michael Borst and Celestino Rodriguez stretched the Beaver lead to 5-0.
  • The Golden Bears scored their lone run in the third inning on an RBI double.
  • Humrighouse and Jake Collins began the fifth inning with back-to-back singles before coming around to score and extending Minot State's lead to 7-1.
  • The Beavers added two runs in the sixth inning before Trevuan Smith roped a two-RBI triple down the right field line.

  • Borst, McDougall and Humrighouse led the Beavers with three hits apiece.
  • Rodriguez and Gifford added two hits while Smith tallied a team-high three RBIs.
  • RJ Martinez earned his first win of the season with the complete-game victory.

Minot State continues play on Monday as the Beavers take on Northwestern at 1:30 p.m. before playing an exhibition contest against Carroll College at 5 p.m.
