HUDSON, Wis. - Minot State sophomore
Zach Hendrickson matched his career-best on Tuesday, and with it came within just two strokes of a title.
The Our Redeemer's Christian School product shot an even-par 71 at the Troy Burne Golf Club for Tuesday's final round of the Concordia, St. Paul-Minnesota State, Mankato Fall Brawl to tie for third individually at 1-over 143 (72-71).
He was just two strokes back of tournament champion Tate Carlson of Upper Iowa who finished at 1-under 141 (72-69).
Hendrickson's efforts led the way for the Minot State men who finished seventh at 42-over 610 (301-309) for the tournament.
On the women's side, Minot State finished eighth with a team total of 117-over 685 (340-345) with senior
Holly Knudsen leading the way as she finished tied for 23rd at 22-over 164 (77-87).
Co-host Minnesota State, Mankato swept the women's titles as the Mavericks won the team championship with a 43-over 611 (299-312) and were led by individual champion Anna Cihak, who carded a 6-over 148 (69-79).
Winona State won the men's team title at 10-over 578 (289-289).
The third event of the fall for Minot State, the Beavers return to action next week at an event hosted by Winona State, playing in the Watkins Fall Invitational in Lake City, Minn., on Monday and Tuesday.
While Hendrickson's best-ever collegiate finish led the Beavers, he was backed up by teammate
Chase Gedak who added a Top 20 finish as he tied for 20
th at 9-over 151 (73-78).
Joshua Tu was next for the Minot State men, tying for 46
th at 15-over 156 (76-80), then
Max Karnik, who tied for 55
th at 18-over 160 (80-80), and
Aimery Barrault, who was 75
th at 36-over 178 (94-84).
Minot State's
Gage Olson, playing as an individual, finished 74
th at 34-over 176 (94-82).
On the women's side,
Taylor Cormier was close behind Knudsen as she finished tied for 26
th at 23-over 165 (82-83), then came
Jaci Jones, who was 41
st at 34-over 176 (90-86),
Zoe Banack, who tied for 48
th at 43-over 185 (91-94), and
Lauryn Keller, who was 53
rd at 47-over 189 (100-89).
