MINOT, N.D.- The Minot State University women's volleyball team will look to nab their first win of the season, and first win of new coach
Alex Lehockey's Beaver career.
MSU will travel to Chadron, Neb. to participate in the Chadron State College Tournament where they will see some familiar foes. The Beavers will first square up with the host the Chadron State Eagles on Friday Sept. 2nd at 7 p.m. The Beavers will wrap up their non-conference play Saturday Sept. 3rd against fellow NSIC member the Sioux Falls Cougars at 9 a.m. and the Montana State-Billings Yellow Jackets at 1 p.m.
Following a very difficult opening weekend schedule, the Beavers have learned a lot that they hope can help them secure their first win of the season.
"We look forward to getting on the court this weekend at Chadron to compete against some non-conference teams before our home opening on September 9th," Lehocky said of the upcoming weekend. "Our goal is to focus on our side on control our tempo during each match."
The duo of
Alexandra Koontz and
Taylor Wyatt currently lead MSU with 24 and 22 kills each, respectively. The Beavers had an impressive 16 service aces their opening weekend, while also tossing up 18 blocks during the four opening matches.
Tea Boeckel and
Jaina Macaulay each nabbed 3 service aces while
Jenna Pahlen leads the Beavers with 12 total blocks.
Viktoria Sedova is also leading the defensive charge with 25 digs as well.
Following their time at the CSC Tournament, the Beavers will scurry back up to Minot for the opening weekend of NSIC play. The Beavers will first take on the 21st ranked Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs Friday September 9th at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend with a difficult test in an 8th ranked St. Cloud State Huskies team on Saturday Sept. 10th at 2 p.m.
