Beavers Return Home for Pair of NSIC Matchups

MINOT, N.D. — The Minot State men's basketball team returns to the Minot State University Dome this week as Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play continues following a competitive road weekend.

The Beavers enter the week with an 8-14 overall record and a 5-11 mark in NSIC action after falling to Concordia–St. Paul on Friday and Winona State on Saturday.

Minot State opened the weekend with a 91-88 loss at Concordia–St. Paul despite a balanced offensive effort. All five starters scored in double figures, led by Trey Brandt with 21 points and two steals. Deuce Benjamin added 19 points, while Darik Dissette finished with 15 points, six assists, and five steals. The Beavers controlled the first half, building a seven-point halftime lead and finding success on the offensive glass with 12 boards that turned into 18 second-chance points, but the Golden Bears closed the game late to secure the win.

Saturday's contest saw Minot State fall 67-62 at Winona State in another tightly contested matchup. Isaiah Alexander led the Beavers with 12 points and six rebounds, while Benjamin and Kiku Parker Jr. each added 11 points. Lovasoa Andriatsarafara recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as Minot State out-rebounded the Warriors 38-35 and collected 13 offensive boards.

The Beavers' defense held Winona State to just 39.7 percent shooting from the field, and Minot State erased a second-half deficit to tie the game late before the Warriors pulled away in the final minutes. Minot State continued to find success inside, scoring 20 points in the paint.

This week, the Beavers return home for two key conference matchups inside the Minot State University Dome. Minot State will host Bemidji State University on Thursday, February 5, with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m., before welcoming the University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, February 7, at 3:30 p.m. as NSIC play continues.
