MINOT, N.D. – Minot State junior libero
Maya Vibeto had an outstanding weekend on the court, leading the way for the Beavers defensively, a weekend that earned her honors from the NSIC.
After recording 20-or-more digs in both of Minot State's home matches to open conference play, Vibeto was named the NSIC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The honor is the first for Vibeto and the Minot State volleyball team this season.
The junior from Our Redeemer's Christian School here in Minot recorded 45 total digs in two matches for Minot State (3-7 overall, 0-2 NSIC), matching her season high of 25 in Friday's 3-set contest against Bemidji State. Vibeto added 20 more digs in Saturday's 3-set match against Minnesota Duluth.
Vibeto, who earlier this season recorded her 1,000th career dig, finished the weekend averaging 7.5 digs per set. She also had 6 assists to help the Beaver offense.
Vibeto and the Beavers return to the court on the road this weekend, playing at Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday night and at Minnesota Crookston on Saturday afternoon.
